Default Fanuc i Series - PCMCIA - Network question

    Hello,

I have a fairly new Fanuc i Series with a PCMCIA slot that I use to tranfer part programs into CNC memory. I have two issues that I have not resolved (I'm not now to CNC but I am very new to Fanuc). Can anyone tell me how I can run a part program directly from the PCMCIA card? I'm also interested in learning if it's possible to use a PCMCIA LAN card to dump data into the control using our shop floor network? Thanks in advance for any info.

    Best Regards,

    Joe in St. Pete

Do you have GE Fanuc Document B63525EN/02 (i Series Maintenance Manual)?
If so, this information is in Section 6.8 and 8.1. If not, email me and I will reply with the details.

    Hello,

I do not have the manual you are referring to. Also, this control had ethernet capibility however it is not enabled, I asked the machinery dealer to quote this to me but have not received a response. I am under the impression that Fanuc is not bashful about asking for a ton of money to enable options. Thanks in advance for the help.

Transferring part programs, tool data, parameters, etc. to & from the card is pretty straightforward. But, if you want to execute a part program from the card (i.e., DNC operation) the capability to do so will be determined by whether you control is equipped with the embedded Ethernet function or the Ethernet function based on the option board. DNC operation is not possible with the embedded Ethernet function, but FTP file transfer is.
All of the procedures are in Ch. 8 of the maintenance manual.
