Default Tool offset based on Dial Gauge Input for Fanuc CNC

I am trying to provide the output of either an lvdt which would be an analog voltage or the output of a digital dial gauge in rs232 as an input to the Fanuc cnc Controller. The aim is to provide a tool offset based on the reading of the dial gauge or lvdt. From what I have seen there is the fanuc i/o card but for this the value would have to be in the form of digital binary bits. However the output of the gauge is only in rs232. Can the fanuc cnc controller take a rs232 input to decide the tool offset?

What other solution would you suggest?

yes but can u input the rs232 input directly into the macro? Or would i need an intermediate device to interface? the controller cant deal with the analog voltage directly right??

I seem to have figured the rest of the portion out. However I am stuck on how to get the CNC to open the port and accept the program I am sending from within the macro? I am able to receive the code if I put the CNC in input mode manually.

    PLS HELP
