    Hello all,

    I am tasked with backing up the control parameters and cnc programs. I know how to send the control parameters tea1, tea2 etc to the control when it has lost its memory but I do not know how to download same. the machine is a modified AXA with Sinumerik System 810.

    Thanks in advance for any help

    I have enclosed a writeup below that I did ages ago with a step by step guide for taking data out of an 810 controller. It is written specifically for our machines with our plant numbers, so just change the file names to suit yourself, but leave the extension the same. The description is written for Siemens PCIN as a file transfer media, but all serial coms packages work the same way.

    Siemens Sinumerik System 810 Data Upload And Download Via PCIN Software

    Data to be transferred:- A) Test Data (TE1)
    B) PLC Machine Data (TE2)
    C) Main Programs (MPF)
    D) Sub Programs (SPF)
    E) Tool Data (TOA)
    F) Zero Offset Data (ZOA)
    G) R-Parameters (RP#)
    H) Setting Data (SE#)
    I) Alarm Text (PCA)
    H) PLC Program (PCP)

    TO DOWNLOAD DATA

    1. Connect IBM Compatable PC to com port #1,This is usually on the front of the
    operators control panel.Com 2 is situated in the rear of the NC unit.

    2. Check the following data words are set as follows :-

    5010 = 00000000 Baud Rate = 9600
    5011 = 11000111 Parity = Even
    5012 = 00000000 Stopbits = 2
    5013 = 11000111 Databits = 7
    5016 = 00101000
    To do this,select SETTING DATA on the main menu, cursor over to page 2 (>),
    select SE-BITS, page down to the data words required then enter the new values.

    3. Go back to the main menu, select DATA IN/OUT. Select interface 1

    4. Press the DATA OUT function key. The NC will then show a menu of all the data
    that can be saved. Select TEST DATA first (TE1).

    5. Run PCIN on the IBM, and select DATA IN on the PCIN menu. Now type in the
    name of the file you want to save using the following format:-
    Drive/mc plant no/nc no/file extension.Ie.. A:/6208N1.TE1
    A Drive,Minganti 06/208/NC1/Test Data
    Put in a Backup Diskette in A:/ (Or memory stick in USB)
    then confirm by pressing enter twice,press start on the NC panel. The Test Data
    will now copy to the floppy drive on the IBM.

    6. when the file transfer is complete, repeat for PLC Machine Data (TE2).

    7. Repeat for Main Programs (MPA),making sure that all main programs are
    entered on the control...ie..%0 - %9999.

    8. Repeat for Sub Programs (SPA),making sure that all sub programs are
    entered on the control...ie..L01 - L999.

    9. Repeat for Zero Offsets (ZOA) .

    10. Repeat for Tool Offsets (TOA) .

    11. Repeat for R-Parameters, there are four of these to copy, Channel 0,1,2 and 3
    Take each file out as follows, RP0 for channel 0,RP1 for channel 1,and so on.
    Not all R-Parameter files will contain data, but to be safe copy all.

    12. Repeat for Setting Data,(SEA),again like R-Parameters, save all five channels.
    Ie...SE0 for channel 0, SE1 for channel 1 etc.

    13. Press the eyeball key and enter into initial clear mode (Pasword 1111) and use the data in/out key to take out the alarm text (PCA) and PLC program in ascii format (PCP). Data is taken out in the same way as described above for programs and parameters.

    13.This completes the NC data backup, change any Data bits back to original settings.

    TO UPLOAD DATA

    1. Connect IBM as described above, and check the data bits.

    2. Go into Data out on PCIN software and type the name of the file to be transferred to the NC.

    3. Go into DATA INPUT on the NC and press Data Start, then press enter twice on the IBM. The file will now upload to the NC, the NC will automatically recognise the
    data type and will automatically process and overwrite.

    4. If uploading all files always send TE1 first, then the rest of the files in any order.

    Hello SundanceUK,

    Thanks for the procedure. I knew how to upload from the pc using PC-IN to the 810 control just could not figure out the procedure for downloading from the control to the PC to save the parameters and also any modified or newly created cnc programs. This will be a big help. Thanks again for the information.
