    Default I/O Read Error 20 writing ladder (RS232)

    Hello, I am trying to get a Takisawa-T up and running after having params and ladder cleared with hard reset.

    Specs:
    310 – EX series
    Serial # CC11E10458
    2002 Year
    Fanuc Series 21i - T

    I am trying to write ladder file from PC through RS-232. Here is a document that details what I tried. It is giving me a I/O Read Error 20.
    PDF file in Google Docs

    Thanks,
    Leland Krum

    I would say that your first mistake was clearing all the data. In 20 yrs. of loading ladders through RS-232 or PC cards, I've never ended up with any "half-baked" data in the system. That being said, backing up parameters (both CNC & PMC), along with the orig. ladder is essential before this undertaking, but clearing everything is just making more work for you (as is apparent by your current circumstances).

    I assume you backed up the parameters. If so, you'll need to re-load those prior to loading the ladder. If not, you'll have to enter them by hand (assuming there is a sheet from the MTB with this data), or try to obtain a back-up file.

    I think you'll also need to go into the PMC settings screen and enable the edit function, PMC stop manually, PMC programming function, and possibly a couple others (sorry, I don't have access to a control at this time). Once these criteria are are satisfied (and certain parameters are set) you can load the ladder.

    Good luck!

    I also noticed your file name at the PC is PMC-RA.000 I'm pretty sure this is "memcard" format (in the Fanuc vernacular). If that is the case, I don't believe it can be loaded via the RS-232 port unless you use FAPT Ladder to convert it to a Handy File format first (Using - - -File- - -> Export).

    I would rather say, that if you have a memory card format file for your PMC ladder i.e. PMC_RA.000, copy this file in the memory card and try loading it by going to the boot screen of FANUC CNC. This will be easier than converting the file using FAPT ladder.

    SD card dont work on Fanuc , you need compact flash type II with maximum 526 mb.
    in the attachment are the settings for RS-232 and M-CARD;
    as psevin said the format of file that you want to upload is mcard and can only be loaded on the CNC from memory card
