Default "HT Parity Error!" on Yaskawa J50M

I am having problems setting up the RS232 serial port on a Yaskawa J50M. I am getting a parity error every time we try to download a program to the control. "HT" stands for horizontal tape. No solution in the manuals. There is no tape reader on the control. All the control parameter settings appear to be OK. The baud rate was at 4800 and we dropped it down to 2400 with no improvement. Our communication cable is at the maximum length of 50'. We have played around with the software settings on the PC sending the text file with no luck. We tried hardware handshaking with no improvement. Is there something other than "%" needed on the first line of text going to the control? Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks - Steve

Try each one of these, let's pretend your program is named 0501 (zero-five-zero-one):

    %
    O0501
    N5 G00......

    %
    :0501
    N5 G00.....

    O0501
    N5 G00.....

    :0501
    N5 G00.....

    %
    O0501*
    N5 G00.....*

    %
    :O0501*
    N5 G00.....*

I'd also suggesst you make a shorter com cable, for testing purposes.

    Good luck

Thanks Sinumerako. I am a little embarrassed to admit that the baud rate was set lower then planned via parameter settings. However there are 2 new issues. If the next block delay is too low a parity error comes up. For 4800 baud transfer rate a 35milliseconds delay is needed at every block sent to prevent an error. And when the transmission is over the J50M shuts the port but the sender still thinks it is open. Not a real big deal as all the information is sent but is it an indicator of a problem?

    Thanks - Steve
