I have a used Bridgeport VMC with Fanuc OM controls. There are some programs in the Library that have names attached to them. One of the Programs is O0007; Tool Offsetter. I have another program that I want to keep in the Library, but can't seem to get the name to show. What do I need in the first lines of the program for the name to show up when I store the program? |

You need to have the name of the program in ()parenthesis on the same line as the program number. This will display the name in the library. O0007(TOOL OFFSETTER)-----this will display in the library O0007 (TOOL OFFSETTER)-----this will not display in the library. Stevo: Just to add to your explanation: The way I remember this, some of the 0 series controls do not have the ( ) symbols. Its a choice of the machinetool builder when they buy the control. If you do not have them, you can not write comments, but I believe you can still download them. Keep up the good work educating in CNC, people that can actually program from scratch are slowly disappearing here. Heinz. www.doccnc.com |

Heinz, Yes, very good point. I forgot all about that. Some of the Oseries did not have the ability to use comments in the program. Thanks for pointing it out. So true on programming from scratch. I still use Acad . I suppose I should get up with the times and learn some programming software and Soildworks. I sit down with a blank notepad, print, and Acad and start going to work. Once written all proving and debugging is done on the fly at the control. My specialty is macro programming and I feel like it is a dying art. “why would you do that when you can press a button and out comes the code”. I put my process and programs against programming software “realtime” out on the floor. Funny thing is I am still pretty young.
