Default Johnford sl-800b parameters

Hi all,
I need some spindle orientation settings on Johnford sl-800b parameters with Fanuc Oi controls. Also the M-codes it responds to & in what increment it will allow. This is a new machine that needs to be running, so we haven't had time to read the manuels on all of the operator friendly functions. Having been an operator myself, I want to get all I can out of it.
Thanks everyone for a cool site!

Hi Bob,
Unless you're lucky enough to have a Forum member chime in that has the same machine as yours, I can guarantee it will be quicker to read the manual. For starters, your machine comes in many configuration. Some have a true "C" axis (0.001 degree increments), whilst in other forms the indexing is much coarser and trajectory interpolation is not possible. Accordingly, you will need to expand on your Original Post and supply more information. Whilst you are doing that, you could have been reading the Operating/Programming manual.

I'm not trying to put you off. I think it fair to say that I try and be helpful, and by suggesting that you get stuck in and read the manual is about as helpful as one can be.

I apply a saying to some matters. "There's never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do the job again"

Regards,

Bill

Thanks for the reply Bill,
I don't have access to the manuals at home, so I thought I would try my luck on the site. Also I'm a newbie to the site, & to programming as well.
I will do the reading as soon as possible. The machine this one replaced has been down 9 mo's.(has since been d.o.a. & scrapped) Our only option during that time was on manual machines. So we are quite far behind on customer demands. I fully agree with your quote.
Will supply more info if not resolved. Spindle orientation in this case is not a neccesity, but a "niceity".
Thank you much,
Bob

Hi Bob,
I and many many other Forum members will be happy to answer any questions you may have. What you were asking in your OP is a little vague without the benefit of more information relating to the machine.

If you have some specific questions relating to the operation of the machine and or, programming, please ask away.

Regards,

Bill

Hello Bob and welcome to the forum.

As Bill stated your post is a bit vague and what you are asking is really going to be more MTB specific and in the MTB manuals and not so much in the Fanuc manuals.

If you would like send me a PM with your email and I can send you the Fanuc manuals. You just have to let me know which control it is.

Oi MATE-TB

Oi MATE-TC

I do know that Sinha has a lot of experience with the Oi series control and will probably be able to help out quite a bit if he sees the thread and decides to jump in.

Bob,
After a few searches I did not come up with anything specific for Johnford. What I did however come up with is that this is defiantly going to be MTB specific and it is different for almost all builders. I could find really no correlation between using a standard M-code for indexing the C-axis. So you have no MTB books for this machine?? Have you tried calling the MTB to get one or a list of M-codes?

Once you have the M-code I believe that it will be just a matter of making it modal and then you program the degree you desire M()C().

I was a bit unclear when reading the PM you sent me if you are actually looking for any specific manuals for your control. If so let me know. I hope that it is ok that I responded here instead of your PM.
