Default Acroloc Series 1000 Spindle Drive Failure

Hello,

I recently purchased a used Acroloc Series 1000 M15L, made in 1987. It has GN2 Series Fanuc controls. When I started up the machine, the power transistor for the spindle drive failed (EVL32-060). It happened shortly after the spindle drive engaged. I think the error code was "over voltage 12" but I did not write it down. Anyone have an idea of what I need to check out before I replace the servo amp again?

Thanks,
John

Default Re: Acroloc Series 1000 Spindle Drive Failure

The first thing would be to make sure the input voltage you are supplying the machine with is the appropiate one, if it is configured to receive 220 VAC and you give it 440, it is going to make funny things, like blowing out power transistors inside the drives.

Another thing is to double check the spindle motor wiring, specially if the motor was taken off for safety-transport issues.
