Hi everyone, I am really new on the CNCs field so if I said stupid things I apologize in advance. I'm new in the company and they assigned me the task of networking ten CNCs machines running on Fanuc 32i controls and assign a PC as a server. The objective: Transfer the jobs from the PC to the CNCs instead of using the memory cards. The CNCs have LAN port and Embedded Ethernet. So, my first thought was to create a LAN network and my first objective is to connect one laptop to one CNC and make the job transference. I proposed the FTP server option but since the computer functions only as a server without the option of sending the programs from the computer to the CNC, the proposal was rejected. My next bet are the DNC softwares, for example the CIMCO DNC-MAX 6. Nevertheless, it seems it doesn't support ethernet communication, even though in their Distributed Solutions brochure, clearly shows ethernet networking. I tried to search for guidance on the DNC-MAX user's manual but there is no section related to ethernet communication. I tried several DNC softwares but all support only rs232. I am wondering if there exists a DNC software that supports ethernet at all. Hope to get on track. Thank you all. |

I am not sure if Dostek uses ethernet as I set mine up at the last shop via RS232. I do however like their software and support they are also very well priced. Ask for Doug Struthers. Dostek Incorporated 238 Westheights Drive Kitchener, Ontario Canada N2N 1j9 Tel (519) 742-5721 Fax (519) 741-8669 Dostek - DNC Systems and Software You can also try Enet DNC as they are who I currently use. http://www.enetdnc.com/ Stevo (The opinions in this post are my own and not those of machinetoolhelp.com and its management) |

Seeing you want to connect a few machines via ethernet , I believe it is worth your while to purchase the FTP software from Fanuc , and I am sure they will assist you in setting it up to communicate to your machines. One thing to keep in mind if the program you want to transfer is bigger than your machines memory , you cannot drip feed via ethernet , only transfer to the memory. If you want to transfer massive programs , you will need a data server on your machine , which is essentially a built in memory card , and this option is also available from Fanuc. Regards Deon |

Hi... I was using a dnc software from Haidenhain CDS lite 4.1 with my DMU50 Ev Mill pluss control via ethernet and Agie and Citizen via RS232. I think it may work. Probably it is a free software. |

I fixed my problem by using an AE-MDL-STPR811 board. I originally couldn’t get enough torque, but this board gave me plenty of torque power. It also gave me the option of adding a surface mount heat sink, a fan and external Schottky diodes. The board also as two .100” header connectors to connect to all the control signals and jumpers, if you want to hard code it. The cheapest ones I’ve found so far have been from DiverDudes.com, they sell assembled and bare boards.

I noticed that you posted the same thing about fixing your problem across 5 different threads that had nothing to do with what you were posting. I am glad that you fixed your problem but please try and keep the threds to the topic of the original poster.
