Default Alphacam 7 and xilog question?

Hi

Can anyone help please

Just started a new job and the machine is an scm record 240 and has Xilog3mmi on it, i'm teaching myself G code programming but if I can I would like to use alphacam v7 which i would like to learn as I have it on my pc. We do have alphastair on a pc at work and it produces .cnc and .prg files which i can then transfer the .prg file to xilog and it works fine, can alphacam produce these files?

How can I transfer a program from alphacam to be able to run on the xilog program?

I see in the "select post" in alphacam there is 2 options for SCM but they are record 220 and record multidrill 5+1, could i export with one of these?

As the tooling is already setup in xilog is there a way i can transer the tooling specs to alphacam?

Lastly, if alphacam is not what I need then is there a software that will be easy enough to learn and use and be able to export to xilog?

Many many thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Regards

M9G

Hi m96, i use alphacam with xilog.

you need to create a database of tools in alphacam, you cannot import them in ( im on version 7.5)
you then draw you panel as you normally would, apply tool paths, and go to file>output nc.

But, you will need a post processor for your machine.

you could try one of those posts you have but it is not certain that it will work correctly, so i would try it very cautiously. When you have the pgm in xilog double check alol the curves and tool ofsets have the correct orientation.

Also make sure the panels you draw in alphacam is orientated correctly, for example if your machine has its stops to the rear, then the top left of your panel in xilog should be at x-0, y-o.

scm should be able to provide you witht the correct post for the machine

it depends on how your program is set up, alphacam outputs a .anc file, but we have ours set so it converts the file to pgm also using winxiso

i have this post, ( attached ) but you should have this one any way as it came with alphacam.

you should be able to find a few others to try in C:licomdat>Rposts
Attached Files
File Type: rar SCM RECORD NUM 220 Multi Group.rar (6.5 KB, 23 views)

the post is rlink by scm for routalink which i now have.

I did just a simple point to point line just to try out the post

I can click on "list nc code" and a box appears with all the codes in it and its exactly right for my machine when i click on "output nc" it says file saved but nothing there.

Any ideas?
