I just bought one of these and was wondering if anyone has any experience running one of these. It has extra drives for the 4th(rotary) & 5th(headstock) axis. Particularly I need help moving the spindle head up/down. When I go to flip the 5th axis switch in the back nothing happens. If I flip both switches both axis turn on but alarm out because the 4th axis is not connected. The only thing I can think of is a parameter needs to change or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is this a twin spindle machine or the single spindle version? We've had the series 100 machines. To move the spindle head on those machines was simply a matter of using the elevator up/down, which was located in the same area as the carousel clamp/unclamp switch. The older machines, you had to manually unclamp the spindle head from the vertical ways ((3) bolts along each side of spindle head vertical ways). On the newer generation, there was a pnuematic clamp, activated by a switch, which when unclamped allowed the spindle head to be repositioned. Never worked on a series 1000, this must be the large quill version of the Acroloc. The series 100 had a quill of Ø3" to Ø3½", or so. |

This one has the pneumatic clamp. I finally figured it out. There are two switches in the Tape Reader compartment one is labeled 4th and the other is labeled 5th. I assumed the 4th was for the Rotary table, so I kept flipping the 5th axis switch to the on position, and would get no response. So I tried the flipping the 4th axis switch and it worked.
